Impression
A magnificent skyscraper right in the center of Rotterdam. It’s a pity this building is not exclusively a hotel; from the thirteenth floor upwards it’s an office building (the reason for this is that American companies never use an unlucky number). The hotel is beautifully furnished and has a modern yet attractive interior.
reception
The receptionists gave us a warm welcome. They gave us the familiar American smiles and asked us how we were doing. Everything in this hotel, from the legal aspects (such as not providing customers with headaches with aspirin) to the interior of the rooms, has been arranged perfectly down to the very last detail. It’s simply delightful to see that American high standards have such an influence in a Dutch hotel.
public areas
The public areas are grand and stylish, combining warm colors like purple with white marble. In these areas you also imagine yourself in an American hotel – meaning stylish, modern and with a pleasant atmosphere.
rooms
The rooms are large and attractive, the bathrooms clean and spacious. Everything is at your disposal and everything is possible – which is probably why guests such as former president Clinton and pop star Robbie Williams enjoy staying in this hotel.
halls
Unfortunately, the hotel doesn’t have very large rooms although there are rooms for up to two hundred people depending on the organization of the room. However, right next to the hotel there is a conference center, De Doelen, which can be reached from the hotel through a covered passageway. This center has rooms that can seat up to a thousand people in a sit-down dinner arrangement.
situation
The location is excellent. Central Station is across the street and the Coolsingel is literally at your feet. Everything in Rotterdam can easily be reached either on foot or by car, tram, bus, taxi or water taxi. This hotel is certainly worth a visit, especially if you enjoy the American style.
