Impression
This hotel is a classic example of the fact that sometimes you have to be careful about first impressions. When we first arrived, we were inclined to turn on our heels and leave straight away. The hotel looks awful on the outside: a grubby brown building. However, once you’re in the lounge, things start to look more promising and you recover from the initial shock. And while you’re walking through the corridors to your room, you suddenly become aware of how beautiful this hotel actually is, and you realize this is a real Hilton hotel.

reception
Our reception was satisfactory, although for some reason there was no porter when we visited the hotel. Our suitcases were not brought to our rooms for us - which is something you would expect in a five-star hotel - but perhaps we simply missed the porter.

public areas
This hotel is a popular meeting place for business people. Most of the meetings take place in the spacious lounge, but there are also several excellent conference rooms. The corridors are beautiful and there’s a nice bar, but for relaxation this hotel isn’t the perfect place.

rooms
The rooms are very nice and offer a great view of Schiphol airport. They are completely sound-proof, so you don’t even realize you’re staying at an airport, and fitted out with all the modern conveniences. They meet all the requirements for a five-star hotel room, although it is a pity that the windows aren’t slightly bigger.

halls
There aren’t any large conference rooms, only a few ones. These rooms aren’t really suitable for large parties or conferences, simply because they aren’t big enough. For such occasions we would recommend the nearby Sharaton hotel.

situation
The location is fantastic: close to the freeway and, of course, Schiphol airport. To go to WTC Schiphol you have to go round the back, although in the future it will be possible to walk to WTC through the hotel. All in all, this hotel is excellent for a short stay in the Netherlands.
