Impression
This hotel, situated on one of the most expensive streets in Amsterdam, has an air of business both on the outside and on the inside. It was successfully done up a few years ago, but unfortunately this was not enough to give the hotel a warmer, more cozy atmosphere. Still, everything in this hotel has style, even the bleak interior, a typical American business style. It is for this reason that both Dutch and foreign companies often hold business conferences here. Both the guest rooms and the conference rooms are excellent for such occasions. This hotel with its beautiful unique garden and its own private harbor certainly made quite a favorable impression on us.

reception
We met with an excellent reception. It is immediately clear that you are in a hotel that belongs to an American chain. The personnel are friendly and polite, the only drawback being that a large number of employees only speaks English or another foreign language. Although this can sometimes cause problems for the Dutch guests, it is clearly advantageous to the many foreign guests. An especially useful service in this hotel is the separate service desk for business clients. Here everything is arranged for you if you have booked a conference room. This way you can easily keep business and pleasure separate.

public areas
The interior of the public areas is rather bleak but modern. Everything is available and these areas are very suitable for a nice quiet conversation. The lounge is excellent and looks grand. The hotel bar is actually quite famous in the whole of the Netherlands, not only because of the amazing view it gives of the hotel’s private harbor with its beautiful antique boats, or because of the warm and cozy interior, but most of all because it is the perfect place to hold a meeting while enjoying a nice glass of wine. Like the hotel itself, the bar was once a well-known meeting place for Amsterdam’s underground characters, but for some ten years now these people have been barred from the hotel and after the last renovations this policy has clearly taken effect. In short, the public areas in this hotel are excellent and the garden, bar and lounge are truly unique.

rooms
The rooms are excellent and leave nothing to be desired. They all have a beautiful view of Amsterdam and, like the other parts of the hotel that were done up, they are in perfect condition. These rooms are exactly what one expects from a five-star Hilton hotel.

halls
The conference rooms are truly amazing. There is a great variety of rooms and there is something for every occasion. Most of the rooms can even be linked to each other en they are fitted out with everything you might possibly need, from presentation screens to sound equipment. There is a separate business desk for the renting of these conference rooms and it caters for both business and non-business customers. Thanks to this service and the separate entrance from outside of the hotel, you will not be inconvenienced by any of the other guests staying in the hotel.

situation
The location is as excellent as the hotel itself. Amsterdam’s cultural heart, Museumplein, is only a fifteen-minute walk away and the rest of the city is also quite easy to reach from the hotel. Unfortunately it is quite far to walk to the nearest tram stop, but the taxi stand is really close by.
