Impression
We had expected the hotel to be rather beautiful, but unfortunately it was nothing special. It consists of several old buildings next to one another, as well as a few buildings across the street. We soon noticed that this hotel is actually quite suitable for business travelers since there are hardly any children around and the atmosphere in the hotel only encourages you to hurry to your appointment or your room, as neither the lounge nor the bar is very inviting.
reception
We received a warm welcome. There were, however, a few too many trainees behind the reception desk - which can give a wrong impression to the guests. The permanent staff can tell you a great many things about the hotel and its buildings, but they are reluctant to do so and take no great pleasure in it.
public areas
There aren’t many public areas in this hotel. There is a bar but it doesn’t open until 5 pm. This means that during the day you’ll have to make do with the lounge.
rooms
The rooms are fine, although not as luxurious as they could be. They are in perfect condition and equipped with everything you need, but although they have a much nicer feel to them than the rest of the hotel they are not special enough to say anything more than that.
halls
The hotel only has one small conference room, which is suitable for meetings but not for large conferences or parties.
situation
The location is excellent. The hotel is situated in the heart of Amsterdam and both public transport and taxi services are readily available. It’s only a five-minute walk to either Rembrandtsplein, a bustling square with many popular cafés and restaurants, or the Wallen, Amsterdam’s red-light district.
